November Staff Playlist

Our November Staff Playlist is filled with tracks perfect for your pre-Holiday playlist, flight home for the holidays and more. Listen to the playlist on Spotify here and read what our staff has to say below.

Louie – Calpurnia

I’ve been getting in the habit of making myself a cup of coffee, sitting on my porch and listening to this song each morning before I head to work. As weird as it sounds, this song just sets me in a better mood for the day. Calpurnia is an amazing band made up of some of the most talented teenagers out there. I can’t wait to hear what they come up with next as they grow and mature because it is bound to be amazing! – Chelsea Gresh, Contributing Photographer

In Case I Don’t Feel – Kevin Garrett

I was so excited when Kevin Garrett made his triumphant return with this song. It’s a perfect step in maturity for his sound, and it makes me so excited to see where this next phase of his project goes. “In Case I Don’t Feel” has the perfect vibe for fall and winter, especially for stormy days. – Gina Scarpino, Photo Editor

Shy – Saint Blonde

This song fell into my Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify and instantly became a favorite. I’m really into warm, slightly distorted guitar tones (along the likes of Bad Suns, COIN, etc.) so these guys stood out to me. – Kristen Humphries, Contributing Writer

The Words You Say – Harrison Storm

I recently discovered this song when it came up as a suggested song for a playlist I made. I haven’t been listening to a lot of new music lately, so it was nice to finally dive into something new. The song is just peaceful (which is great, because it was suggested for my peaceful playlist), nice and calming. I don’t know, it’s just a great song and I think it’s something everyone could enjoy. – Delaney DeAngelis, Deputy Editor

Lately – VOILÁ

The reason I chose this song is because it kind of just helped me get through a break up. The song itself is full of raw emotion which I love, and the acoustic version is 10x better but anyway. The lyrics tell a story unlike any other, “I still wear that smile you gave me” like are we joking? The song basically tells a story about someone being distant and the other person not being able to move on and it kind of made me realize I’m not alone and the lyrics are highly relatable. Not to mention VOILÁ is beyond amazing and I love them. – Samantha Aneed, Contributing Writer

Without Me – Halsey

This song is so catchy and always a must on my drive to work! – Alicia Rangel, Contributing Photographer

Heaven/Hell (Hansa Session) – CHVRCHES

I wish I could choose the entire EP, but for the sake of the staff playlist I’ll choose Heaven/Hell. This entire EP was a surprise and a blessing. I love when artists take their studio released songs and release a stripped back version, and I especially love Orchestral renditions. Now that I’ve heard Lauren’s voice and the rest of CHVRCHES joined by an orchestra I NEED a live tour with this sound. This song, and EP, are my choice for November because it’s the perfect soundtrack to listen to while you’re snuggled up inside or out driving in the rain. – Joe Hernandez, Contributing Photographer

Simple Romance – COIN

I first heard this song on AltNation and fell in love with it! It has an infectious energy and if you like indie pop this is a must listen. – Alyssa Buzzello, Senior Contributing Photographer

Can’t Go Wrong – Anthony Russo

The slow recline to cold winter nights has me missing the warmth of summer. This track makes me think of long road trips with friends. It also makes you want to fall in love. – Nicolita Bradley, Contributing Photographer

Keeping Up – Microwave

Honestly, this song hasn’t left the repeat button and I’ve never had a song recreate how I felt so much before. Beautifully sad instrumental with super simple and raw lyrics. – Stone Fenk, Contributing Photographer

you should see me in a crown – Billie Eilish

Maybe late to the game here with this song but I saw an interview with Billie where they asked her all the same questions as they hadn’t in an interview exactly a year before and it got me back into her music and I haven’t stopped listen to this song specifically. – Marissa Sandoval, Contributing Photographer

Boys – Lizzo

Given how the charts have recently pivoted towards Hip-Hop, it’s a shame that Lizzo isn’t taking one of the biggest artists out there, because she absolutely deserves to be. She’s easily one of the most charismatic performers out there right now, and “Boys” shows her at her absolute best. The beat catches your attention from the get-go, and Lizzo’s clever flow and wordplay make for a perfect mix, and an undeniably fun song. – Blake Charles, Contributing Photographer and Writer

Galena — Balance And Composure

Balance And Composure is dead but my love for them isn’t. – Danielle Chelosky, Contributing Writer

Wait For You – Jake Miller

Jake Miller has always put out great music, but I really think he took it to a whole new level with this track. I’ve had it on repeat nonstop since it dropped last week! – Lauren Klonowski, Senior Contributing Writer

More I See – S. Carey

Over the summer, I had the chance to see Bon Iver perform at Millennium Park in Chicago. Although I consider myself an incredibly invested fan, I never took the chance to actually listen to BI band member, S. Carey’s solo stuff. A little while ago, I was looking around for new music and remembered that I wanted to look him up. I’ve been listening to More I See almost obsessively lately, I think it’s a really cool track that’s just different from everything else out there.
