To say Portland was excited and anticipating this show would be an understatement. The demand was so high, Lewis Capaldi had sold out the show at the originally booked bar/venue and had to be upgraded to a much larger Portland venue – the Roseland Theater. Capaldi expressed his gratitude to the audience saying it was his first time in the city and the venue had to be upgraded, and he loved the city and crowd so much for this he promised to return soon.

The instrumental from the NFL’s well known theme song rang through the venue, as one by one Capaldi’s band took the stage and their instruments. Finally, to a roaring crowd, Capaldi walked up and stood center stage and jumped into a performance of his song “Grace.” The crowd was engaged throughout the show, singing along to Capaldi’s heart-wrenching lyrics and cheering for Capaldi’s distinct vocals as he hit his notes.

Capaldi performed loosely and playfully, often in-between each song pausing the set to tell a story, joke and tease his fans and band. The audience loved every bit of it, as Capaldi’s comedic personality is as much of his performance and persona as his music is. The Portland crowd through cheers and laughs showed their love for Lewis Capaldi, and cannot wait to see what lies ahead for the artist as they patiently wait for his return.
