With Halloween fast-approaching and “Spooky Season” already halfway through, it only makes sense to share the season’s top 10 songs. Check them out below.

10. “Ghostbusters” – Ray Parker Jr.

The popular theme song from the Ghostbusters movies is one to never forget. The classic chorus makes it fun to join in and easy to remember. So, who you gonna call?

9. “Somebody’s Watching Me” – Rockwell and Michael Jackson

The 1984 hit with popular singer and dancer Michael Jackson definitely gives you the creeps. We’ve all had that feeling of being watched and it’s not one to want. While listening to this song, make sure to watch your back.

8. “Halloween Theme” – John Carpenter

As the theme song for the 1978 hit slasher Michael Myers film Halloween, it has to instill some fear in you. The song alone makes me want to run.

7. “Spooky Scary Skeletons” – Andrew Gold

14 years after its release by Andrew Gold, it became heavily associated with the famous Disney “Skeleton Dance” cartoon after being uploaded to YouTube. Instead of being an eerie Halloween song it’s fun and lighthearted. It even sparked a 2019 Tik Tok dance that I definitely can’t do.

6. “Halloweentown Theme” – Retrospectre

The popular late ‘90s and 2000’s hit Disney Channel movie series including the famous Debbie Reynolds heralded this fun and unique Halloween song. As something I grew up on like many other kids around the world, the song is one of my favorites to have on repeat throughout the season.

5. “Monster Mash” – Bobby (Borris) Pickett

A Halloween middle school dance classic. What else is there to say? It makes you get up, dance, and have a good time.

4. “This is Halloween” – The Citizens of Halloween

Heralding from the 1993 movie The Nightmare Before Christmas, it is one of the most popular Halloween songs. With its perfect blend of spookiness and excitement from the residents of Halloween Town, it’s easy to see why.

3. “The Phantom of the Opera” – Andrew Lloyd Webber, Gerard Butler, Emmy Rossum

The motion picture version of this song is loved because of the amazing vocal performances by Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s piano performance however could portray a whole story on its own. It gives off old piano in a creepy abandoned mansion vibe, making it the perfect Halloween classic. It even gained some extra love this year after the beginning became part of a Tik Tok trend.

2. “I Put a Spell on You” – Bette Midler

While it’s not a Bette Midler song, her version as Winifred from Hocus Pocus has come to be one of the best Halloween performances. Her unique and easily recognizable voice along with her theatrical and upbeat performance makes it a fan favorite.

1. “Thriller” – Michael Jackson

The song that broke racial barriers and revolutionized music video production takes the cake as the number one Halloween song. The 80s pop song has withstood the test of time because of its danceability and true Halloween vibes with the background sounds. When hearing this song while at a party or trick or treating you want to immediately stop what you’re doing and do the iconic dance like Jackson.
