Twenty One Pilots share new holiday single “Christmas Saves The Year”

So, we guess the year has been saved, then? Twenty One Pilots certainly seem to think so.

The GRAMMY-winning duo from Columbus, Ohio, shared a surprise holiday single, “Christmas Saves The Year,” available on all streaming platforms. Along with the track, the duo also released a visual directed and animated by Johnny Chew and available to be viewed below.

In the single, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun sing about the optimism that one can find in the holiday season, especially Christmas. With the tumultuous and nerve-wracking year that everyone has, the nostalgia-ridden track brings a certain warmth to its listeners, a glimmer of hope that everything will be alright soon because Christmas saves the year.

The release of the holiday single follows the release of the uber-successful track “Level of Concern,” closing out another landmark year for the duo with it dominating radio airwaves once again. 

“Level of Concern,” written, recorded and released during the quarantine period, held the top spot at Alternative Radio for 12 straight weeks while also making its way into the top 25  on Billboard’s “Hot 100” list. The track has amassed nearly 200 million streams across the globe, achieved RIAA Gold certification and has also propelled Twenty One Pilots to victory at this year’s American Music Awards, taking home the award for “Favorite Artist — Alternative Rock.”

Interestingly, the duo made history by releasing the first-ever never-ending music video for “Level of Concern” conceived in partnership with award-winning storyteller and director Jason Zada. The visuals keep regenerating and are populated with clips of fans. At any point in time, if one was to go to the video, it would be playing, along with a chat bar on the side where you can see fans interacting with each other and forming bonds.
