Mystery Rose Releases First Single “Stability” from Upcoming Debut Album

Los Angeles-based indie pop teenage artist Mystery Rose released her first single from her upcoming debut full-length album Socially Distant.”Stability” has a bouncy, pop-punk vibe similar to that of an early 2000s high-school movie.  A song about relationships and vulnerability, it fits right into that popular and loved narrative for its relatability.

“Lyrically, it’s about relationships,” Mystery Rose said. “Whether you leave someone or you get left, you still feel vulnerable, like someone took away your Stability — not just with them, but for future beaus! Break-ups have a lasting effect on everyone, no matter which side they are on.”

While “Stability” is the first official album single, she did release some standalone tracks  “Passing Notes” and “Sunset Blvd” in 2020 that could make an appearance. The released of “Sunset Blvd” was accompanied by a music video directed by Steve Hanft. The video takes viewers around the streets of LA in a sexy red convertible mustang she mentions in the song.

The singles followed her 2019 songs “Gossip,” “Eternity,” and “Arranged,” which were enjoyed by a small but overwhelmingly positive audience.

Her debut album Socially Distant is due out this spring in digital and vinyl formats. “Stability” represents Side A which focuses on her indie-rock sound, while Side B leans more toward more bluesy sound similar to that of Amy Winehouse. Her blues ballads side by side with the catchy, pop-punk ties together older contemporary music, while staying fresh in time with the revival of 2000s-style indie rock. The album is sure to be a beautiful blend of her versatile abilities, with professional orchestration to boot.

Unlike many young artists, the 17-year-old singer has little interest in being in the spotlight, tying back to her artist name for the desire to remain largely a mystery. She manages to maintain relative privacy and image-control while growing up in the epicenter of self-exploitation Los Angeles. While we do see her face from time to time like in the cover above, she’d rather be in the studio with producer than on camera.

“My interest is really in creating the song,” said Mystery Rose. “Not so much who sings it, but who listens to it and how that audience is impacted or affected by the poignancy. If other artists use my material, or if ordinary listeners are singing in the mirror, that’s cool for me. I get a kick out of being the creator, not necessarily the only performer. I hope my work is universal in its appeal and that many will want to perform it.”

The different facets of Mystery Rose’s music are impressively complementary, not contradictory, making her an artist to watch. Stay tuned for the second album single, set to be released in late February/early March!
