New Music Monday: MisterWives
MisterWives is an American indie pop band from New York. This six piece band has opened for bands such as Twenty One Pilots, American Authors, and Bleachers. Their sound is unique with a combination of indie rock and pop, and folk. The band consists of lead singer Mandy Lee, bass guitarist William Hehir, percussionist Etienne Bowler, guitarist Marc Campbell, multi-instrumentalist Jesse Blum, and saxophonist Mike Murphy.
The band formed when Mandy Lee wanted a 80s cover band to play at her party. She then partnered with Bowler and Hehir. After Bowler brought along his friends, Campbell and Blum, they became a five piece band and played at The Canal Room in New York City as MisterWives.
They were signed to Photo Finish Records the day after the Canal Room gig and they would spend the rest of the year touring with bands American Authors and The Royal Concept in 2013, along with recording their EP.
MisterWives released their EP Reflections in January 2014, which included their hit song “Reflections”. In February 2015, MisterWives released their debut album Our Own House.
