On June 3, NoMBe released the music video for his breakup song “This Is Not A Love Song” that was released on the CHROMATOPIA album, which includes his hit single “Weirdo”, on May 7, 2021. NoMBe is an artist, producer, and songwriter. He is also the godson of R&B legend Chaka Khan.

The video directed by B paints an exaggerated picture of NoMBe drowning in sorrow and looking at himself through a broken piece of glass. This image is juxtaposed by dreamy imagery of him in the afterlife in a bright suit and dancing at moments as he imagines the end of a relationship. The inability to cope with the loss of the relationship is the leading theme of the video.

“I love how this music video turned out for its simplicity,” NoMBe said. “We shot in Hawaii during a really rainy period and luckily found a nice day to knock this one out. Originally we were trying to build a giant mirror out of those smaller pieces seen in the clip, but it was such an understanding we decided to make it more about the different angles and locations.”

NoMBe’s CHROMATOPIA is a conceptual 14-track, self-produced album that lyrically details the internal dialogue of love. It fuses together elements of pop, electronic, soul, and rock music to allow listeners to explore his kaleidoscopic world. The album’s tracks  have already accumulated over 14 million streams, receiving praise from glam rock legend Elton John.

NoMBe’s previous album They Might’ve Even Loved Me from 2018 is critically acclaimed and has racked up over 178 million Spotify streams. It includes popular  singles like “Can’t Catch Me” (ft. New Mystics), which was chosen by Pharrell Williams as the official theme song for his HBO documentary series OUTPOST, and “Drama” (ft. Big Data), which was featured on EA Sports’ FIFA World Cup 2019 soundtrack.

You’ve more than likely heard NoMBe’s music before. His captivating and memorable songs have been placed in a variety of television shows including Shameless, OzarkThe Resident, and even Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger

He has also toured across the country, opening for Bonobo and alt-J as well as performing at popular festivals like Lollapalooza, Firefly Music Festival, SXSW, Outside Lands, Bottlerock, Electric Forest, Okeechobee, Lightning in a Bottle Festival.

A native of Heidelberg, Germany, NoMBe was born into a creative, multicultural family surrounded by art in a multitude of ways. He was encouraged to pursue music early on and studied classical piano before he began experimenting with songwriting and production. His sampling of hip hop and electronic music led to his move to New York where he focused on contemporary production while playing in the subways at night. Over the last decade, he traveled around the country and continued to develop his musical knowledge and career before relocating to Hawaii.

NoMBe is definitely an artist to watch this year, so make sure to keep up with him to  know when he has new music coming or when he is performing next!
