Get To Know: Gabriella Stella

If you’re looking for new music, look no further than Gabriella Stella. The rising 23-year-old pop singer dropped her latest single “r.i.p (dead 2 me)” last month and we had a chance to talk all about it. Check out our interview below!

How did you start in music? Did you always know you wanted to pursue it?
STELLA: I started singing before I could even really talk. Music just felt like it was something I was meant to do. I was obsessed with Hannah Montana and studied her as much as I could. I signed up for my school’s talent show and the rest is history. I started taking dance lessons, acting lessons, stage performance, and anything to hone my craft.

Any specific artists you take inspiration from?
STELLA: I love the sounds of Nessa Barrett, Olivia Rodrigo, Demi Lovato, and Miley Cyrus. I am a huge fan of this pop punk vibe. I love to find underground artists as well before they hit mainstream radio.

This new breakup anthem “R.I.P (Dead 2 Me)”, was it inspired by true love events?” What’s the story behind it?
STELLA: The story behind is my relationship with my father. Sometimes you have to get rid of a toxic relationship in order to heal. I wanted to open up about the idea of letting go of a toxic relationship and letting it die. Who knows maybe one day I can resurrect our relationship from the ashes.

What can we expect from you in the future?
STELLA: You should expect new music that makes you want to dance while crying. I want my lyrics to be dark but have a “Sour” by Olivia Rodrigo vibe. I have been working on my songwriting a ton during the pandemic. I wanted to come out and be the most vulnerable songwriter I have ever been.

What do you hope to say to fans/listeners with your music?
STELLA: I hope my fans and listeners don’t ever feel alone when they listen to my music. Music has always been that friend for me, when I didn’t really have any. Music made me feel seen when all I wanted to do was hide. So if I could touch anyone with my music, and help them see that they aren’t alone. I would have done my job as a musician.

Who would be your dream artist to tour with?
STELLA: Hands down Miley Cyrus or Demi Lovato, have always respected them for everything they have released. I love the transformation from the pop Miley to this rock era Miley. Demi is just embracing their rock vibe and going back to their roots.

As a fellow Texan I have to know, Whataburger or In-N-Out?
STELLA: Hmm.. Whataburger! I am vegan now ;but Whataburger was the place to be at after a football game or anything late at night.
