Album Review: Nothing But Thieves’ “Dead Club City”

Are you ready to join the Dead Club City? We sure are! The highly-anticipated fourth full-length album by Nothing But Thieves has finally been released and we cannot get enough.

The album opens with the first single the band released, “Welcome to the DCC”, which could not be a more perfect introduction to this new era for them. The song is an incredibly groovy track which makes you feel as if you should be dancing it up in a nightclub. This album does an amazing job at helping you escape into the world Nothing But Thieves has tried to create.

The vibes do not stop there! From “Tomorrow is Closed” to “Members Only”, each track on this album has elements that make them different from the rest but they come together so beautifully. With heavy synth and heavy disco influence, the album stands apart from the bands previous albums. It is impossible to sit still while listening. Tracks with “Keeping You Around” and “Do You Love Me Yet” are some of the grooviest songs created this decade! There still is a bit of that dirty rock and roll sound we all know and love which keeps us hooked.

For those more into ballads, fear not! “Green Eyes :: Siena” cuts right to the heart. From front-man, Conor Mason’s, incredible vocals to the gentle guitar, you sure will be feeling this song deep down.

Much like Moral Panic, this album ends on the heavier and grittier side with “Pop The Balloon”. It seems as though Nothing But Thieves really knows how to end with a literal BANG!

Nothing But Thieves will embark on their first North American tour in five years this fall with Kid Kapachi. You can find the dates here.

You will not want to miss this one! Where will you be joining the Dead Club City fun?

Keep up with the band on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook!
