Keith Urban Brings an Elegant Approach to ‘Blue Ain’t Your Color’ Music Video

Keith Urban’s new music video for ‘Blue Ain’t Your Color’ is unlike anything he’s ever done before. Instead of killer guitar solos, colorful effects and a storyline you think we would expect, it’s more a trick to the imagination. The video is shot in elegant black and white to tell its story.

Urban plays the role of the consoler in the waltz-like tune, while Amber Valletta plays the girl who’s dealing with the deepest depths of inner turmoil. The video portrays the message maybe not in the way we would have pictured but a way that is so much more meaningful. In the beginning of the story, a woman (Amber Valletta) walks into an empty bar in the middle of the afternoon with a look of distraught. Urban, with his bassist and drummer are seen performing in separate shots.

The video gradually overlaps both scenes with the woman finding comfort and a little bit of color by swaying back and forth to the music. It seems as if the music is what paints her bright or brings her some sort of joy or escape. She’s lost in another world, leaving the viewer trying to decipher imagination and reality. As the video draws to a close, it is now just the woman and Urban in the scene. But soon, we realize the music and Urban’s trio were just a trick to her imagination, leaving the woman left alone in the bar letting the sorrow creep in once again.
