The 11 Stages of Seeing Your Favorite Band Live as Told by The 1975

It’s National Concert Day and if you haven’t noticed, we go to a lot of live shows. So we decided to honor this beautiful holiday by reminiscing on the first time we saw our favorite bands live. And we’re going to let Matty Healy from The 1975 help us out.

  • That GLORIOUS moment when your favorite band releases new tour dates, and your hometown is finally on the list. giphy
  • And that sweet, sweet feeling of accomplishment when you snag yourself some tickets without having to smash a computer or fight a 14 year old on Stub Hub. It’s a true National Concert Day miracle!giphy 1
  • And then the day finally arrives. You’re going to see your favorite band in concert and this is your only reaction when anyone asks you how many times you’ve happy-cried in the last 24 hours. IMG 1575
  • And of course you roll into the venue squad deep, no matter how difficult it becomes for you to organize a group photo. IMG 1571
  • Now you wait and have to recompose yourself every time you mistake a roadie coming on stage to fix an intrument as a band member. But remember, patience is a virtue.IMG 1576
  • But before you know it, your beloved favorite band takes the stage and you immediately burst into a dance you had no idea you were even capable of. IMG 1573
  • And, if you’re one of the lucky ones, you get yourself right to the front of the stage in hopes of sharing that one precious moment of being called out by the lead singer for knowing every lyric frontwards and backwards. Isn’t it great when your hard work is finally appreciated in front of a crowd?! IMG 1577 1
  • And no matter what show or what venue, there’s always that one person who can’t contain their excitement and ends up just a little too close. IMG 1574
  • But, sadly, all good things must come to an end. So when you hear the dreaded “We’ve got time for one more song!”, you do your best to stay positive. IMG 1572
  • Then suddenly it’s the next day, the whole experience seems like a blur and you’re not sure where to even start when someone asks you “how was the concert?!”. To be fair, you’re not sure you’re even alive. IMG 1570 1
  • But let’s face it, you would do it all over again if you could. giphy 2
