The FunkLabb Teams Up with Myah Marie to Deliver “Mama Said No”

Brooklyn-based producers/songwriters The FunkLabb released their debut single and music video for “Mama Said No” ft. Myah Marie this past Wednesday. The song rocks an infectious, sensual beat that ties in rap, funk, and Latin flares to create a sexy song about wanting someone even though mama says they’re bad for you. The video takes it one step further and ties in a love for the extraterrestrial.

Best known for her background vocals on tracks for stars like Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Lil Wayne, Marie gave a voice to the group’s vision for the song.  The track tests the limits of Marie’s inner self as she flirts with the danger of the unknown.

The duo compromised of Ed Lawson and Wes Davis met almost three decades ago and crafted music behind the scenes for legends like The Notorious B.I.G. and Will Smith. They intend to remind listeners of how a song can impact the way you feel, and collectively aim to bring excellence and musicality by incorporating their varied taste with elements from a timeless catalog.

Evolving their collaboration into a development hub with various artists leaning on their expertise, wisdom, guidance, and studio prowess, “Mama Said No” is the first in a series of The FunkLabb’s independent singles coming out this year.

The debut was accompanied by a music video featuring Marie rocking a space cowgirl vibe, Area 51, the desert, and an alien encounter. It has been successful in its first few days, conjuring up over eight thousand views on YouTube.
