iHeart Highlights

Award show season seems to have come and gone within the past few months but still, some linger around longer; the iHeartRadio Music Awards were just this past Sunday, April 3rd.

It began with an oddly large amount of jumpsuits.

We had some triumphant returns of artists performing lead singles from their upcoming albums, like Iggy Azalea and Meghan Trainor.

Iggy returned to the stage performing her new single “Team”, coated with independence and not taking anything from anybody. Meghan Trainor sang “No”, her new single with ’90s R&B-style influences. Sounded just like early Britney, but you know, without fierce dance moves. (Can someone please bring that back?)

Zayn made his awards show solo debut, just barely a week after releasing his first album. Justin Bieber performed his new single “Company”, and DNCE arguably gave the performance of the night, singing their hit “Cake By the Ocean” and “Le Freak” with Nile Rogers.

As for the actual awards themselves, Adele’s “Hello” won Song of the year, “Fetty Wap” won Best New Artist, and Taylor Swift won notable awards for Female Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Tour. In Swift’s speech, she thanked her fellow-award-winner boyfriend Calvin Harris (real name Adam Wiles), giving us the heartfelt moment the show needed.
