Julia Michaels Shares Video for “Happy”
Superstar singer-songwriter Julia Michaels has released the music video for her new single “Happy,” which is taken from her latest project Inner Monologue Part I. The song details the bitterness of a break-up, where Michaels confesses that sometimes she feels that she kills her own relationships for the sake of having something to help inspire her art.
The video itself is an ode to her youth. It starts off with Michaels in an empty house that is filled with balloons and glitter. As the song builds, it flashes to her standing outside of the house holding a dollhouse, that she eventually sets on fire. She rolls around on the floor that’s covered in glitter, throws cake at the wall out of frustration, and more. It is her way of saying goodbye to her youth. Upon the video’s release, Michaels shared a Tweet, detailing how this video was the final step in her letting go of the relationship she talks about in the song.
