PHOTOS: Bumbershoot 2018 [Day Two] – Seattle, WA – 09/01/2018

Seattle Washington’s Bumbershoot pushed on to it’s second day, and so far it’s busiest. Many festival goers purchase tickets for the entire weekend, but it was obvious many had only purchased a pass to day two. There were noticeably more people packing each of the stages, especially Seattle’s Memorial Coliseum for J. Cole’s performance.

The second largest stage, Bumbershoot’s Fisher Green Stage, saw many entertaining performances including those from Yung Pinch and Marian Hill. Bay Area female rapper Saweetie brought the best of bay, and a group of dancers, with her for an engaging and incredible performance. The highlight of the day for this stage came from none other than T-Pain. Once again Bumbershoot brought out a familiar, and radio nostalgic, face to hype up the attendees of the festival. He played many of his hits through the years, including “Buy U a Drank,” “Cyclone,” and “Booty Wurk.” Attendees loved every second of it, and even many members of the media and press stuck around for the party and jumped in the audience pit to record this memorable performance.

Bumbershoot persevered and worked through technical difficulties at it’s main stage. During AJR’s performance, the power to the stage was cut and the artists momentarily left the stage while things were being sorted out. Once they finally returned, they explained the lights were still out but the audio was working. They performed two final songs “Location” and “Weak” for the patient crowd, who throughout their set formed mosh pits. Difficulties continued and delayed the start of Young Thug’s performance, and once again interrupted Young Thug partially through the set. Thankfully, things were sorted out by the time Illenium took the stage. His production utilized an assortment of stage lights, CO2 cannons, pyrotechnics and fireworks. The Bumbershoot technicians successfully diagnosed whatever issue they were having, just in time for the largest performances of the night.

The most anticipated performance of the day, and perhaps the entire weekend, was J. Cole. The floor area of Seattle’s Memorial Coliseum was packed, and it was the first time the entire weekend that the surrounding stands were full with seated patrons. Above the stage the letters KOD (the title of Cole’s album and current tour) were hung and a full band backed Cole’s performance. The crowd roared once Cole finally took the stage, and went wild until the moment he stepped off it.
