Singer-songwriter extraordinaire MAX brought his Live in Colour tour to a packed August Hall in San Francisco last month. The high-energy set was filled with new releases and old favorites for a show that left the audience begging for more.

Maxwell Schneider, the performer behind MAX, is no stranger to the stage. From his start on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon to touring with Fall Out Boy and Wiz Khalifa, Schneider has decades of experience to draw from. This experience translates to effortless ease on stage, with Schneider opening his set with “Colour Vision” from atop a large multi-colored cube to the fervent screams of the crowd. His infectious energy was apparent from the start as he quite literally bounced around the stage to “Love Me Less” and even a cover of OutKast’s “Miss Jackson”.

Schneider’s connection to his audience was clear throughout the night, and his fans returned that energy in kind. As he performed hits like “Blueberry Eyes” and “Butterflies,” the echo of the crowd was nearly enough to drown out Schneider’s voice. Perhaps the most touching moment of the night occurred toward the end of the set, as the venue was filled with chants of “Max!” for several minutes, ultimately bringing the singer to tears. It came as no surprise then, when Scheidner, who had been encouraging the audience to surpass the energy of the previous night’s show, conceded “You beat LA! This is crazy!”
