Luke James Amazes With New Album, A Live Sensation

Luke James returns with his new project, A Live Sensation. The album is a “live reimagining” of his 2020 album, to feel love/d.

Teaming up with Nu Deco Ensemble, a 30-piece orchestra, they put a whole new spin on his previous album and they created something so immersive and beautiful. This is a match made in heaven – seriously.

The orchestral arrangements throughout the album are spectacular. They really add more texture and depth to songs like “Shine On” and “Blow.”

The standout for us is honestly the first track, “Lambo.” The angelic strings of the harp and violin among other instruments helped introduced us to the elegant new world of to feel love/d.

Oh, and James’s performance is absolutely stunning, as always. His vocal versatility and range are sensational. They really shine throughout this project. You can feel the passion and soul in every note he sings and it is just *chefs kiss*.

He first debuted this project exclusively on BET as part of a benefit concert for the NAACP in March 2021. They recorded the project at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County.

James posted on social media shortly after the album’s release. He talks about how the project was inspired by the verb, love – which perfectly embodies what you get from the album. You definitely feel the love and care from them.

The original album, to feel love/d, marked his first project as an independent artist. The nine-track album featured artists such as Big K.R.I.T., BJ the Chicago Kid, Ro James, and Samoht (who is also featured on the live album). He earned a Grammy nomination in 2021 for Best R&B Album.

Luke James rose to prominence in 2012 for his breakout song “I Want You,” which earned him his first Grammy nomination for Best R&B Song. But he’s not just a singer. He’s an actor as well, starring in the Fox musical-drama Star, HBO’s Insecure, BET’s The New Edition Story as Johnny Gill, and he currently stars on the Showtime original series, The Chi.

That’s not all. You can find him on Broadway as he stars in “Thoughts of a Colored Man,” starting in October! He’s a multi-talented artist who clearly enjoys performing and you can sense that.

A Live Sensation is just another showcase of James’s amazing talents. He continues to do great things with music. Fans of R&B will definitely love this project and have this on repeat.
