The first night of Indigo De Souza’s Precipice tour took off October 19th at Thalia Hall in Chicago, Illinois. With support from friend and artist Mothé (often stylized mothemothemothe), Indigo took the stage to the cheering of the crowd. Touring in support of their fourth studio release, Precipice, an album which contains a combination of introspective and raw lyrics, paired with a smooth sonic indie rock sound to gently deliver the listener the full range of human emotion. From the slower titular “Precipice,” to faster and popular tracks like “Heartthrob,” and “Crush,” Indigo’s music seems to carry an openness and an honesty that enraptured the audience, even as they worked out the little bumps of the first night of tour.
In addition to playing the majority of Precipice, the setlist also featured other favorites like “You Can Be Mean,” “Smog,” as well as a joint performance of “Serious,” with Mothé. A collaboration Indigo said they were so excited for, that they accidentally announced the song early. There are certain albums that feel capable of changing trajectories, or shifting perception. Experiencing Precipice within the warm embrace of the somewhat intimate Thalia Hall certainly felt like one of those moments.
