Electronic rock duo, Phantogram, recently brought a high-energy performance to their stop in Madison on their North American tour. After a strong opening act by Bob Moses, fans were excited to see Phantogram take the stage. The New York duo began their set behind a large, semi-transparent curtain which silhouetted the two, casting large shadows to the entranced audience.
The first half of their set consisted of many fan favorites, such as “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore” and “Blackout Days”. Airy vocals and swirly guitars had the audience grooving and singing along as the two cascaded around the stage. As the show progressed, the set transformed as a massive screen displayed a variety of visuals, helping to create an intriguing backdrop for the remainder of their performance. Despite having only released a couple songs in the past few years, it was evident that Phantogram has been hard at work in creating a set that is more of an ‘experience’ than a traditional show.
The audience was treated to a three-song encore, featuring a couple of their biggest hits, “Answer” and “When I’m Small”, leaving the audience with smiles on their faces as they exited the venue.
