Being Dead Releases New Single “Nightvision” From Upcoming Album ‘EELS’

Texas band Being Dead just shared a new single called “Nightvision.” It’s the band’s third single release ahead of its latest album EELS. The record is scheduled for a September 27 release on Bayonet Records. Being Dead is notable for matching absurdist sounds and lyrics with groovy mixing. Their first album When Horses Would Run came out in 2023. Listen to “Nightvision” by Being Dead here.

“Nightvision” pairs acoustic guitars with a pretty chorus. It’s a softer song compared to the full-blown weirdo-punk that bandmates Falcon Bitch and Smoofy (those are stage names) are known for. The lyrics are nerve-wracking, however, and could raise hairs when considering how sweetly they are delivered: “Time is pressing onto me invading, I’m weightless anyhow // Nothing can derail me or give me a shred of a doubt // Leave me alone now.”

Being Dead’s other recent tracks are stuffed with social commentaries. The song “Van Goes” hones in on modern professional work culture. EELSfirst single “Firefighters” is a fuzzy track filled with enough metaphors to engulf entire city fire department budgets. According to a release, the songs on EELS are malleable, slithering through murky waters or strange half-dreams.

EELS will be commemorated with an upcoming tour. Being Dead will play shows across North America this fall. Scroll down to see a full list of venues and cities they’re performing in. Pre-order of a copy of EELS here.
