CHVRCHES’ Lauren Mayberry Shares Re-Imagined Single With IDLES’ Joe Talbot: Listen

Lauren Mayberry, the CHVRCHES frontwoman, has released a new version of her song “Sorry, Etc, Etc” featuring a verse from IDLES lead singer Joe Talbot. The original version of the song first appeared on Mayberry’s recent debut solo album Vicious Creature. This new version was recorded at Brighton Electric studio over Christmastime in 2024. Listen to it below.

“If you know me, you know how much I love IDLES,” Mayberry said. “It really is an honor to have reinterpreted this song with Joe. We first connected during Covid when I did his Balley TV YouTube series, and have been quietly supportive of each other from the wings since. I messaged Joe last summer about working together and this is the song we decided on.”

Talbot also had a fond note to share about Mayberry, and in IDLES fashion, a not so kind comment about the royal crown.

“An honour and a joy to work with Lauren finally,” Talbot said. “I love the album and I’m happy to be a part of it. Fuck the king, she’s the king.”

Mayberry just wrapped up her solo tour of the U.S. Her upcoming U.K. shows begin later this March. She also has a couple concerts in California scheduled for May. Scroll down for a full list of tour dates.
