This week, PUP and Jeff Rosenstock kicked off their co-headline “A CATACLYSMIC RAPTURE OF FRIENDSHIPNESS” tour across the United States. Friday night at the Salt Shed in Chicago, Illinois, the two punk groups put on a sing-along of lyrical quips, dancing and crowd surfing.

Since the mid-2010s, both PUP and Rosenstock have been staples of punk music, capturing the hearts and minds of emotional Gen-Z and Millennial fans who are probably queer and have likely pondered about their hometown only to think, “This Place Sucks Ass.”

Rosenstock was recently featured on the single “Get Dumber” from PUP’s fifth studio album Who Will Look After the Dogs? The record was released in May. Buy a copy here.

On their “A CATACLYSMIC RAPTURE OF FRIENDSHIPNESS” tour, Rosenstock performed for an hour, playing some of his most popular songs, including “You, in Weird Cities,” which name drops Chicago during the track’s first verse. He mostly played songs from his hit 2016 record Worry.

PUP played a career spanning set, with crowd pleasers like “DVP” tucked in between numerous songs from their 2019 LP Morbid Stuff and numbers from Who Will Look After the Dogs?

To close the night, Rosenstock and his band appeared on stage with PUP to form Death PUPenstock. The supergroup played several Jeff Rosenstock songs together. Rosenstock also lent his vocals to PUP’s song “Reservoir.” They closed out the night by covering Alanis Morissette’s classic “You Oughta Know.”
