On November 2, 2022, Alvvays took the stage at Stubb’s BBQ, halfway through their North American tour. Alvvays is a Canadian indie band formed in 2011 with three hit albums: Alvvays (2014), Antosocialties (2017) and now Blue Rev (2022). The band consists of  Molly Rankin (vocals and guitar), Kerri MacLellan (keyboards), Alec O’Hanley (guitars), Abbey Blackwell (bass), and Sheridan Riley (drums).

Somewhere between San Diego and Austin, the Alvvays tour bus broke down, causing the band to unfortunately arrive late into Stubb’s. But that didn’t stop the crowd from having a good time. American indie band Slow Pulp opened for Alvvays with a 30 minute set of slower jams, mostly from their 2020 album Moveys

This North American tour started October 14th, one week after the release of their new album, Blue Rev, featuring the classic Alvvays melodic harmonies and beachy guitar. Fan favorites from the new release are Belinda Says and After the Earthquake, which have racked up over 3 million streams on Spotify in the last two weeks.

As the clock struck 9:30, the lights dimmed and the synth boomed, welcoming Alvvays to the stage. Vocalist Molly Rankin was taken aback by the number of people who stayed out late on a Wednesday night after their bus woes pushed the schedule back. They played all the hits, from Archie, Marry Me, to Not My Baby, no matter what year you discovered Alvvays, you were happy with this set. Alvvays is celebrating Blue Rev in the US until November 18th, and is extending their tour through Canada and South America until March.
