Artist of the Week, The Greeting Committee, reflects on their debut album, This Is It. Check out what they have to say below:
This Is It is our debut album release and it is the culmination of the ideas and feelings that have been building since the start of this band. Lyrically, This Is It is about growing up; however, it’s also about us growing up as a band and maturing as people and musicians. As teenagers in high school, we were thrilled to even get the opportunity to release professionally recorded music and play shows across the country. With this album, we were able to slow down and think about the music, art, and impact we could have. Everything we poured into this album serves a purpose. Whether it’s the jungly-groove in “Run For Your Money” or the tear-jerking orchestra in “Birthday Song,” we hope everyone can find a bit of themselves in this album.
Now with most of the honeymoon phase in the past (though, does it ever really end?), we are excited for everyone to see as our child goes out into the world. We think it’s gonna do some cool things and get people acquainted with the Greeting Committee. As we get ready for 2019, we are most excited for touring and playing some of our own headlining shows. In past shows when we’ve opened up for other bands, we’ve loved hearing fans sing and cheer along with us. Now that the songs are actually out, we’ll be on our toes to see what our fans do!
