Artist to Watch: Basic Vacation

An upcoming artist to keep an eye on is East Coast, indie pop/rock trio Basic Vacation, comprised of members Chris Greatti: Lead Vocals/Guitar, Jon Paul: Bass, and Mike Montalbano: Drums. Based out of NYC and Philadelphia, Basic Vacation formed in May of 2012. Their sound is 80’s new wave meets power-pop influence with heavy guitar, and heartfelt lyrics. The boys of Basic Vacation have been very busy this past year recording and releasing their self-titled debut EP which is now available on iTunes. Basic Vacation has shared the stage with bands such as Twenty One Pilots, New Politics, and Switchfoot, and next month, they’re opening for The Red Hot Chili Peppers in Brooklyn, NY for WFAN Sport Radio’s #BigHello to Brooklyn. You can hear Basic Vacation’s first single “I Believe” as part of the Olympics’ “Inspiration Without Borders” campaign. The boys also have another busy year ahead ahead of them, including tons of tour dates. You can catch Basic Vacation on tour with Gentlemen Hall in select cities starting at the end of the month until mid February, and this summer at the Firefly Music Festival in Dover, DE June 19-22 and at Suburbia Music Festival in Plano, TX May 3rd & 4th.
