Up-and-coming rapper FCG Heem released his highly-anticipated project, Neighborhood Poetry.
The project dropped on Friday, May 21. It features guest artists such as NoCap, Toosii and Pooh Shiesty. FCG Heem shows off his vivid lyrical storytelling throughout his music. Songs like “California” and “Hood Story” allow him to showcase his versatility. It’s a solid showing overall.
It is a 14-track collection that includes his singles “Haha,” “More Pain,” “Beef” and others. His song “Haha” got a lot of people rapping along, especially NFL players like D.K. Metcalf, Dalvin Cook and Lamar Jackson.
The last song, “Haters,” is proving to be one of the highlights on the project, racking up over 402.9K streams on Spotify in just three days. But “Beef” featuring Pooh Shiesty is continuing to be fan favorites.
The Fort Lauderdale native rose to prominence after he released his song “Dead Weight” on Soundcloud. The song quickly caught the attention of listeners, garnering over 224K streams. Not only that, it had Chicago Bears safety Eddie Jackson playing and sharing it. This eventually led him to sign with Republic Records.
FCG Heem had always been drawn to music. Ever since he was a kid, he would do karaoke and spent a lot of time singing and freestyling. Now, he’s come a long way from where he began. In a press release, he talks on the inspiration behind the making of his music:
“I’m trying to motivate the young people and give them something positive to look up to.”
He’s definitely beend doing that and more. FCG Heem is rapidly turning into one of 2021’s breakthrough artists and with the performance he put on in Neighborhood Poetry, it’s hard to ignore that.
