Following the release of his debut album, Until We Dance, we caught up with DJ and producer, Andrew Pololos. The Montreal artist has established himself in the dance scene with over 1000 events spanning across the globe. Released via Aquarius Records, his new album joins his signature deep house sound with modern pop sensibilities. Check out what Andrew had to say below!
BTS: How would you describe your sound to someone who hasn’t heard your music yet?
Andrew Pololos: Fun, feel good, energetic, groovy,
BTS: Do you want to talk a bit about the inspiration behind your new album, Until We Dance?
Andrew Pololos: The album was mostly conceived during lockdown and is inspired by my gigs, travels and other artists/music I love. While producing I was continuously reimagining like after covid and wanted to make sure it’s the perfect soundtrack for dancing away those summer nights.
BTS: The project contains some great vocal features from artists such as JT Soul, Andria Piperni and Stephen Voyce, to name a few. How do these collaborations typically come about?
Andrew Pololos: I make a bunch of beats and then usually have a vocal style or direction I want to go in. The aforementioned vocalists are also incredible songwriters and gave a voice to my instrumentals. I’m so glad they stepped into my electronic dance world and delivered such incredible vocal performances.
BTS: With this being your debut album, what was the most valuable thing you learned in creating it?
Andrew Pololos: Patience, work ethic and never giving up on your dreams.
BTS: Do you have a track from the album that you’re most looking forward to performing when shows are back?
Andrew Pololos: I’ve performed live with vocalist Andria Piperni and violinist Eric Speed, so I’d love to perform ‘For Today’ and ‘On & On’ at a bumping day party.
BTS: Any artists or songs that you’ve been digging as of late?
Andrew Pololos: Franky Wah, John Summit, Vintage Culture and many many more.
BTS: Now that the album is out, any big plans for the remainder of the year?
Andrew Pololos: More music, remixes, a clubbier project, some instrumental tracks and hopefully more DJing!
Keep up with Andrew!
