Joe Keery Rejoins Post Animal, Band Announce New Album and Share Lead Single “Last Goodbye”

Joe Keery has rejoined the Chicago-based psychedelic rock band Post Animal and together they’ve announced a brand new album called IRON, which will arrive Friday, July 25. The record’s lead single, and the band’s first song since reuniting with Keery, is out now. It’s called “Last Goodbye” and comes complete with a music video featuring a knight interacting with a fire in the dark. Watch it and hear the song below.

IRON was produced by all Post Animal members, including Keery. The LP will feature ten new songs. Scroll down to view the full tracklist and check out IRON’s album cover art. Pre-order or pre-save the album at this link.

The band said this was the first time all six original members were in the studio together in almost a decade. Keery left the band in 2017 to focus on acting in Stranger Things. Three band members also relocated away from Chicago, while all members explored other projects and toured with various friends. Post Animal began working on IRON in 2024.

“We always work collaboratively, but it’s amazing how reintroducing Joe into the mix brought back that dynamic from 2017,” explained Jake Hirshland, who plays keys and guitar in addition to singing in Post Animal.

Keery released his latest album as Djo, The Crux, earlier this April. Right now he’s on a sold-out headlining tour featuring Post Animal as support. Today, Post Animal are announcing an additional tour as a five-piece group, which Keery will not be a part of. Keep reading to see a full list of Post Animal show dates with and without Keery.
