Kim Gordon Announces New Solo Album ‘PLAY ME,’ Shares Short Film for Lead Single

Legendary artist and musical talent Kim Gordon has announced a new album. The record PLAY ME will be released March 13 on Matador Records. The LP will include 12 total songs, including a new track released Wednesday titled “NOT TODAY.” Read on to view the full tracklist. Check out the accompanying short film for “NOT TODAY” below.

“We wanted the songs to be short,” Gordon says of her continued collaboration with LA producer Justin Raisen (Charli XCX, Sky Ferreira, Yves Tumor). “We wanted to do it really fast. It’s more focused, and maybe more confident. I always kind of work off of rhythms, and I knew I wanted it to be even more beat-oriented than the last one. Justin really gets my voice and my lyrics and he understands how I work—that came forth even more on this record.”

PLAY ME focuses on the largest subjects in this modern age: collateral damage of the billionaire class, the demolition of democracy, technocratic end-times fascism, and the dissociation that Gordon believes comes with A.I.

Gordon’s last record, The Collective, was released in 2024. That album was led by the tectonic industrial clatter of her self-described packing-list-cum-rage-rap banger “BYE BYE,” which  earned two Grammy nominations.
