Parquet Courts Release New Song, Announce Album Sympathy For Life

New York art-rockers Parquet Courts have shared a new single, “Walking At A Downtown Pace.” The single is available on all streaming services and you can watch the official music video below:

The band also made an official announcement that they are releasing a new album titled Sympathy For Life via Rough Trade Records. The special edition LP comes with a set of tarot cards designed by the band’s guitarist and co-singer A. Savage. Like the group’s previous album covers — including the Grammy-nominated Human Performance — Savage designed the art. Fans can pre-order the album here.

The album, which is the follow-up to 2018’s Wide Awake! is dancey.

“‘Wide Awake!’ was a record you could put on at a party,” said guitarist and co-singer Austin Brown. “’Sympathy For Life’ is influenced by the party itself.”

The single “Plant Life” was released exclusively on vinyl earlier this summer. It included an extended version of the track and two remixes.

The band is also going to great lengths to promote the record. They are hosting a special event surrounding each song in eleven different cities across the entire globe. The band has posted locations on their website but has not released specifics about each event.

Last week they hosted a parade in New York City to promote “Walking At A Downtown Pace.”

The group also announced a live stream for October 20th where fans can purchase tickets to hear the album two days early.

Bassist Sean Yeaton announced, “Do you want to hear the new Parquet Courts album before anyone else in the world? How about a chance to SEE the new Parquet Courts album before anyone else in the world? We enlisted the effort of 11 amazing visual artists from around the world to create a completely unique experience for our fans who buy tickets to A Sympathy For Life, Visualised. Not only will you get to hear our new record before anyone else, you’ll get to experience it as a remarkable film in its own right!”

Tickets can be purchased to stream the event via Noon Chorus.

Parquet Courts played several of their new songs this past weekend at a concert at White Eagle Hall in New Jersey. They have several dates scheduled for this fall.
