Prize Horse announce debut album and share single “Further From My Start”

Minneapolis band Prize Horse shared that their debut album Under Sound will arrive on February 16 via New Morality Zine. The band also shared a new single from the forthcoming LP titled “Further From My Start.” Listen below. Pre-orders for Under Sound are available here.

The fuzz-filled rock band’s first studio record will also feature the previously released song “Your Time,” which dropped in October 2023. The LP will showcase 10 songs. Scroll to see the full tracklist.

Prize Horse spent their days recording Under Sound in Colorado. The trio made up of guitarist and singer Jake Beitel, bassist and vocalist Olivia Johnson and drummer Jon Brenner called upon Corey Coffman of Gleemer to help produce the album. Coffman collaborated with Prize Horse in 2021 to release their EP Welder.

Any fans wondering what Under Sound‘s literal sound will be should pay close attention to “Further From My Start.” According to Beitel, the song was the last one written for the record.

“It encompasses a lot of themes from the album, musically and lyrically,” Beitel said in a release.

Prize Horse have made a name for themselves by playing shows with several eye-catching bands. They have taken the stage on tours and single concerts with Prince Daddy & the Hyena, plus Super Heaven, Militarie Gun and Scowl. They’ve crossed borders for shows, including a performance at The Velvet Underground in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
