Smut Announce New Album ‘Tomorrow Comes Crashing,’ Share Video for Single “Syd Sweeney”

Chicago band Smut have announced their new album Tomorrow Comes Crashing. It arrives June 27 via Bayonet Records and it features the single “Syd Sweeney.” The track is accompanied by a music video. Watch it below.

Tomorrow Comes Crashing evolved out of ten days Smut spent in the studio with Momma’s Aron Kobayashi Ritch leading production. “Syd Sweeney” is being touted as Tomorrow Comes Crashing’s centerpiece, largely due to its themes of vulnerability and being a woman in the spotlight. The song was named after the actress.

“Women in entertainment are exceptionally talented, smart and beautiful, because they have to be,” explained singer Tay Roebuck. “Sometimes they want to explore sexuality and vulnerability in their work. Then the pitchforks come out, how dare they be amazing and sexual? You can only be one or the other! Why is talent and hard work seemingly erased once you’ve seen a woman naked?”

The album was recorded at a studio in Red Hook, Brooklyn and features ten songs, including the band’s recent single “Dead Air.” Scroll down to check out the LP’s cover art and view its tracklist. Pre-order Tomorrow Comes Crashing here.

Smut are celebrating their announcement with a DIY-style headlining show in Chicago at the underground Not Not venue. Then they’ll hit the road for an official tour with SPELLLING. Keep reading for a full list of upcoming Smut shows. Ticket information is available at this link.
