Wombo Release New Single “Spyhopping” and Share Fun Meme Generator: Try It
Wombo is back with another single ahead of their new album Danger in Fives: “Spyhopping” is out now. It’s a twangy adventure with an eerie bassline and bending guitars, plus a variety of percussion sounds. The band call the track their most adventurous yet. Listen to the song and watch its lyric video below.
“’Spyhopping’ is a behavior by marine animals like whales, where they are checking their surroundings by poking one eye out of the water while keeping the rest of their body safely underneath,” noted singer and bassist Sydney Chadwick. “The lyrics resemble my broken train of thoughts, going from one direction to the next, and my attempt to ‘reel it in’ and become centered again. Like being underwater, and needing to, every now and then, resurface for clarity.”
The lyric video, like most Wombo videos, was directed by the band’s guitarist Cameron Lowe.
Fire Talk, the record label Wombo is signed to, are supporting the record rollout with a fun online meme generator. By clicking here, fans of the band can upload any picture they’d like, and the image will regenerate with the text “This MF listens to Wombo.” Fire Talk will be sharing fan-generated Wombo memes online from now through Danger in Fives’ release on August 8.
