This morning, it was announced that singer/songwriter Kacey Musgraves’ highly anticipated fifth studio album will be jointly released by Interscope Records and UMG Nashville. The partnership between the two label giants will provide Musgraves with a huge platform for marketing, radio promotion and international marketing for her forthcoming release.
“Kacey is one of the most powerful storytellers in music today, a true albums artist who creates potent song collections that are timeless,” Interscope Geffen A&M Chairman & CEO John Janick said in a press release. “We are truly delighted to have her as part of our Interscope Records family and look forward to working alongside the UMG Nashville team and her manager Jason Owen to deliver this important project to audiences around the world.”
Since the release of her debut album, Same Trailer Different Park, which was released in 2013, Musgraves has been paving the way for a newer, more modern version of country music. From day one, Musgraves has established herself as a songwriter with no boundaries—her ability to tell stories that are so unique to her life experience (but are also highly relatable) skyrocketed her into stardom. In 2018, she released her most personal album to date, Golden Hour, which earned her 4 Grammys, including Album of the Year, Best Country Album, Best Country Song, and Best Country Solo Performance.
“[Musgraves’] music has never had boundaries,” adds UMG Nashville President, Cindy Mabe said in a press release. “Her clever songwriting, adept storytelling, vulnerable and real emotional delivery, and her over all ‘take me or leave me’ spirit have translated through genre, time, space and culture. She simply connects.”
This partnership between Musgraves, Interscope and UMG Nashville could mean a lot for the future of music releases. The joint-effort from the two labels will expand Musgraves’ already massive worldwide reach and take it to a whole new level. With the resources from both major labels, Musgraves’ new album will be able to reach new audiences in new ways and push boundaries in the world of music promotion.
So far, Musgraves has had an illustrious trajectory as an artist and her forthcoming release will surly be no exception to that journey. While details of Musgraves’ forthcoming album are still under wraps, it is set to be released later this year. With both Interscope and UMG Nashville standing with her, it is sure to be a massive release.
